A Night of Legacy and Leadership: The 6th Installation Ceremony of the Rotaract Club of APIIT

On September 14th, 2024, the Panibharatha Theatre witnessed a remarkable evening as the Rotaract Club of APIIT hosted its prestigious 6th Installation Ceremony, marking a significant milestone for the club. The event celebrated the club’s rich legacy while ushering in a new era of leadership under the theme of serving beyond boundaries.

Distinguished guests, including the Chief Guest, Rtn. PP. Danya Udukumbure, our Guest of Honor, Mr. Gamindu Hemachandra, Chief Academic Officer at APIIT, District Rotaract Chair, PHF PDRR Rtn. PP. Kasun Sigera, District Rotaract Representative, PHF Rtr. PP Shanel Mendis and District Officials of RID 3220 graced the ceremonious occasion. Their presence underscored the significance of this ceremony for the club and its members.

Rtr. IPP. Janani Mathiyalagan, the President for the RI years 2023/24, proudly reflected on the Club’s numerous accomplishments in the past year, which included an impressive array of awards that highlighted the club's innovation, community service, and its dedication to inspire change. Each award and accolade we received was a testament to the hard work and collaboration of the members, and that garnered due applause and admiration from the audience present. These achievements were a testament that the ceremony served as a reminder of the power of teamwork, passion, and a shared vision.


The evening's highlight came with the induction of the newly elected President and his Board of Officials, marking the beginning of a new chapter. Rtr. Shagaan Thevarajah, President for the RI years 2024/25, embodying the theme, Serving Beyond Boundaries, delivered a stirring speech. In his speech, he urged the club to push past traditional limits and embrace challenges that extend beyond geographical and societal borders. The speech was a rallying call to the members to think bigger, serve more, and collaborate even further to make a lasting difference.

The event was further enlivened by captivating entertainment acts, including lively dance performances and soul-stirring musical pieces by talented club members. These performances were met with enthusiasm, making the evening not just a formal affair, but a joyful celebration of fellowship and unity.

Our Chief Guest and Guest of Honor for the evening delivered inspiring speeches, emphasizing the importance of youth leadership in today’s world. They praised the Rotaract Club of APIIT for its unwavering dedication to serving the community and encouraged the members to continue pushing the boundaries of what can be achieved through teamwork and service.

Our DRR, PHF Rtr. PP Shanel Mendis and our DRC, PHF PDRR Rtn. PP. Kasun Sigera, two respected figures within the Rotaract community, also shared words of wisdom, applauding the club for its outstanding contributions and urging the new board to continue leading with purpose and passion. 

 In keeping with the club's dedication to sustainability, the ceremony incorporated eco-friendly elements, with guests receiving sustainable pens as tokens of appreciation. This thoughtful gesture symbolized the club’s broader mission to reduce environmental impact while promoting sustainable practices in daily life.

As the night came to an end with a delightful dinner served to all guests, it was clear that the 6th Installation Ceremony was more than a mere passing of the torch—it was a launchpad for an exciting new year of service. Under the theme "Serving Beyond Boundaries," the Rotaract Club of APIIT is now ready to extend its reach, tackling projects that address both local and global challenges.
